Best Low-end Laptop ever.. Total steal

Date:March 3, 2012
"Pros: Weight, Battery, Build, Proprietary Software, Proprietary Features, Hardware
"Cons: Speakers
"I think I am the only person in India using this laptop in this part of the world and I must admit that this laptop is just a total steal. After my previous laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad Y510) flared it's motherboard, I was looking for a replacement with at least a little more performance than my previous one and e425 has not disappointed me but exceed my expectations after I had the system in my hand.
"Worth around $500 with base hardware and warranty, the laptop is one of it's class. ThinkPad has been a prime leader of all the competing small/medium business model laptops and e425 just substantiates the claim. With it's low price, switchable graphics, high battery life, AMD Fusion processor, 4 GB of RAM and compact and sturdy build, this laptop can be your best companion anywhere you go. As for my work goes, I had no problem in running various simulations. No system lag or heat-up, thanks to the A4-3300 processor which can overclock itself based on requirement and an amazing exhaust system.
"Coming to the features, all the features provided with the system are state of art - good wi-fi, track-pad, keyboard, camera, auto-lock, reading optimization (when activated your laptop automatically rotates the screen based on the position of your laptop, just like the tablets, first time I've ever seen in a laptop) and a 5-6 hr battery backup. Another cool feature is the headphone/mic combo jack (again the first time I've seen in a laptop) which acts as a common jack for both headphone as well as an external mic. People who use the hands free kit on their mobiles can use the same kit for the laptop's combo jack.
"The multimedia aspect of the system is also excellent. It was able to play any 1080p video I had thrown at it without lags or skipping frames and also the games' performance (because of the high capacity, power switching GPU) was great when you compare it with other SMB laptops. The only drawback in the system is the in-built speakers. The audio is not as crisp as you expect and the volume levels are bit low compared to other Lenovo products. But once you connect your headphone or a hdmi, the sound is incredible and amazing.
"I have always recommended Lenovo products to my family and friends because of it's superb performance, best value for money and amazing service. I'd recommend this laptop if you are looking for a low-budget high performance model and when it releases in my country I'll be willing to start a campaign among my friends to get their hands on this amazing little box."

Good, until it died.

Date:October 1, 2013
"It did everything I needed it to do, I used it mainly for school work and goofing off at home. I enjoyed using it. 13 months after purchase (1 month after the warranty ran out) it died. A local shop confirmed that the motherboard failed. The shop said that this was uncommon for this model. Lucky me!"

Great Overall Laptop

Date:May 9, 2012
"This laptop is awesome. With a simple swap of the HDD for an SSD, this laptop screams even with the E2-3000M CPU. RAM being as cheap as it is online (18 dollars for 4GB stick) also turned this laptop into a multi-tasking beast.
Keyboard is nice. I like the chicklet keys and spacing, very comfortable to type on for hours. It's also not too heavy either. I like that about a laptop. The screen is very normal, nothing special but the graphics card is great for the price. It's nice to be able play a game with decent graphics every once and a while, something you can't ever do with Intel graphics. Good job AMD and Lenovo! Good, solid system.
Sturdy construction that is more typical of 800-1200 dollar laptops..."

Great for everyday personal use

Date:February 2, 2012
Pros: Weight, Durability, Software compatibility, Wireless card, Screen size, Build Quality, Display resolution, Included software, Memory, Keyboard/peripherals, Storage
Cons: Battery
"I am a retired person and am no computer geek by any means. I needed a computer to replace my 6 year old desk top that could not be upgraded any futher and would not run any of the new graphic intense webpages. I wanted a compact lap top and went shopping for one.
I saw a Lenovo in a local office supply store and was impressed with the feel of the keyboard and the apparent build quality. I checked Lenovo's website and found the E series laptops. I didn't want to spend a lot of money so I decided to go with the E425 using the AMD processors. I ordered directly from Lenovo and the computer was delivered within two weeks of ordering. One great thing about buying direct from Lenovo is that they are hooked up with " Bill Me Later". You can pay off the computer over 6 months with no interest. This helped sell me on Lenovo. It allowed me to pay for the computer out of everyday cash flow.
I upgraded to the AMD A-4 3300M processor and so far it has the power to do everything that I want. - word processing, net surfing, email, watching videos on line, listening to music etc. I could care less about playing games. The speakers are very good for a budget laptop and are much better than the ones in my wife's laptop which cost $100 + more than my Lenovo.
Wireless performance is good. I get 4 bars when I use the computer on the very far end of my house away from the router. Another plus is that the computer does not come with a bunch of garbage software that you don't want or need. The screen is bright and the key board has a nice solid feel. The fit and finish of the computer is excellent. The only negative so far is battery life. I can only run about 4 hours on a charge. I have not used the video camera or mic yet. The computer comes with Skype software, but I haven't used it yet.
I ordered my computer with the standard 4 gigs of ram. I found OEM Lenovo memory on a website and ordered another 4 gig chip for a total of 8 gigs. The PDF user's manual that comes with the computer shows you how to install the extra ram. It was very easy to add additional ram. This simple upgrade should enable this computer to run future applications with no problem.
Overall this is a very, very nice computer for everyday use. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality, budget laptop for basic everyday computing needs."

E425 A4 review

Date:October 27, 2011
Cons: Display resolution
"I was looking for a LT that was under $500 USD had a 14” screen and fit my needs (web, word, excel, music, email, streaming video). The E425 is not blindingly fast but fast enough for me, the 7,200 rmp disk helps, the keyboard lacks back-lighting(sucks) and has a little flex on the right side but its ok overall, It runs quiet & cool, the hinges are good, but it has a little bit of flex in the screen. Overall I’m happy with the E425, is it the fastest LT? not even, is it the thinnest trendiest LT? no, but after I honestly evaluated my needs I decided not buy more then I actually needed. I think the E425 provides good value."
