UHD has to been seen to be believed!

Date:November 19, 2014
"I've only had my Y50 UHD SSD one week, but have been very impressed with the screen resolution. Love the back-lit keyboard!
Regarding Windows 8.1, a necessary requirement but Windows Vista was just as good (if you get my drift). I'm old school, so application icons suit me just fine. I didn't purchase this for gaming, but I can imagine the image quality must be nothing less than exceptional, including fast refresh rates. Yet, it would appear that Windows no longer provides free games so that they force one to purchase games online; well, good luck with that concept!
As far as the "cloud" is concerned, I won't place my data in "never-never-land" and should have refused to comply with the request upon start-up to do so as a "recommended setting." Thus, I had to undue the "cloud" theory. I believe in hard copies and hard drive backups.
To those morons who put a less than very high rating on this laptops' offerings and configuration, I challenge you to find something better!"

A Novelty

Date:November 9, 2014
"At the moment, laptop technology cannot sufficiently accommodate the ultra display of 3840x2160 resolution.
First off, many software programs are not built for this kind of resolution, so on a small laptop screen, a lot of programs are skewed or do not scale properly, making them tiny to read even with the default settings for Microsoft text set at the largest possible. Downsizing to a lesser resolution isn't any better because it distorts the UI of Windows itself, making it difficult to set up a functional UI.
Second, the graphics card isn't strong enough to fully handle the resolution and density of this size. Refresh rate isn't at 60hz, but at a 48hz and it was noticeable to myself that things aren't moving as smoothly as I'm used to. It seems the whole system is jerky at times and slowed down, but it's not really, it's just the refresh rate working at a slower pace.
So at the moment, this might be a nice early-adopter machine, but for the average user, I say wait it out."
