Serious Wifi Issues
Date:November 16, 2013
Pros: Screen size
Cons: Wireless card, Keyboard/peripherals
"Using this for the second day after receiving it. Wifi issues are serious. The internet connectivity is very unreliable. Also the computer looks great but the keyboard feedback is not OK -- can never be sure if you are using enough pressure. Also, the mousepad is off center and favors people who use their left hand to navigate. Sorry Lenovo, but I should have listened to everyone else who wrote a review and commented on the wifi issues. My 5 year old toshiba is better than this."
"The plastic case is not solid and cheaply made. Really bad user experience: - Keyboard is jumpy when typing - Doesn't delivery a good and precise typing experience - Problem with palms touch track pad while typing. Unreliable drivers: - wasting lots of time to reinstal and manually upgrade a lot of drivers for its devices - wifi signal is poor even after correct and upgrade the up to date WLAN driver in Lenovo website"
"Despite great specs and a great price, the Lenovo U510 has been somewhat of a disappointing purchase. My Lenovo U510 has been buggy since its arrival - common themes I experienced that apply to other Lenovo U510 owners are:
1. Faulty stock keypad. Although this problem was easily solved through disabling the keypad and using an external mouse, it seems troubling that a brand new computer should suffer from hardware issues. 2. Sleep mode is nonexistent. Plain and simple, the laptop rarely (if ever) sleeps, and instead will restart itself once the laptop is closed (or if the battery is disconnected for prolonged periods) 3. Screen Brightness. The laptop automatically compensates for dark backgrounds, but fails to fully enhance clarity making dark videos hard to see. 4. Constant Cyberlink Pop Up. A pop up has appeared on my screen every time i move the screen up or down. It seems that there is a problem between the hardware and the software that has not been resolved in this computer."
"I have had the product for 6 months. now I have to keep on rebooting the machine to get the touch screen to work . bought it at office depot and I cant seem to get anyone at Lenovo or office depot to repair since it is un der warranty"
"Specs: 4th Gen i7 processor, 8 GB RAM, 15 inch Full HD 1920x1080, Touch Screen, 500GB hard drive.
Have been using this for about a month now. This was a big upgrade from an old Lenovo T51 that finally stopped working after 7 years. The main reason I chose Lenovo again was how happy I was with the last one. As far as this model goes the overall look is great. I didnt know if I would like the island style keyboard but it is great and even has a backlit feature. Super fast startup time from sleep mode. Resolution is great. The battery life is impressive, but not sure if it matches how long it is advertised to last. The aesthetics/look of Windows 8 is great, but the widgets are not that useful, and usually just use the desktop mode. The only complaint is the hand motion feature is sensitive at times and can bring up unintended screens and commands when using the touchpad. This problem has gotten less as I have used the laptop more and gotten used to it, but it is still annoying."
