Customer Reviews for ThinkPad E545
Review 1 for ThinkPad E545
Great Product for Reasonably Price
Date:August 17, 2014
"I own Lenovo ThinkPad Edge for 1 week and it is an awesome business laptop and build with great quality of material. This is like mac book pro but it is black and cheaper price. Love this product !!!!!"
"I purchased the Lenovo ThinkPad E545 after extensive research. I was looking for a reasonably priced laptop with a matte screen for around $500. I was also curious to to try out an AMD APU based system. I have changed to the F1-12 keys to legacy mode in bios. Thanks for that option. I have also swapped the fn/ctrl keys in bios. Windows 8 is a mess and has been replaced with Ubuntu 14.04, which runs well, except that default kernel needs to be replaced with newer mainline one due to a well known bug in the driver for the wireless chipset, RTL8188EE. (Packet loss becomes horrible and WiFi unusable, without this update.)
Also, out of the box, the mouse pad is overly sensitive under both Windows and Linux, but adjustments on the software side have largely cleared up this issue. I like the TrackPoint a lot.
The keyboard is excellent. Overall, the system seems solidly built.
I am pleased with this purchase and hope to get many years of solid use from it."
"My Lenovo laptop is exactly what I wanted and needed. My only "complaint" is that the anti-glare screen seems to reduce the brightness and clarity of the screen a bit. Otherwise, this product is absolutely excellent, especially for the price!"
"Somewhat heavy for the size and configuration, this laptop performs like 10-year-old tech. Poor battery life is one thing, but the wi-fi throughput on downloads is 1/125 (!) what I get on my 3-year-old ASUS gaming laptop (on the same network and router with identical settings.) It's bad enough that (for example) pages with active content like weather radar NEVER successfully load. A major disappointment."
