Pros: Input/Output compatibility, Included software, Durability, Keyboard/peripherals, Screen size
Cons: Storage, Warranty, Memory, Support, Weight, speakers, fan
"I have been using this for 3 years now, and quite frankly it has been a disappointment. I bought it for about $1100 and the fan is not very good, the left speaker no longer works, and the hard drive gets very hot and slow often, when I first got it the sleep function didn't work at all. don't get it, it's really heavy too. I'm not getting rid of it because I love the old fashioned keyboard and I spent so much for it, I'll just upgrade to an SSD and keep it for a while longer"
"After having used an L512 for nearly two years, I feel I can finally give a faithful review.
This is hands down the best laptop I have ever known. It shines in nearly every aspect for an Intel i3 with integrated graphics, except in the keyboard. From the build quality to the screen to the general feel of the keyboard (except for the fault I describe below).
After a while, some of the keys start to stick. It's never happened to me on any other keyboard, so I'm left to conclude it's a fault of this one. It's rarely permanent, as it will usually return to normal if I press hard on one of the stuck keys. Still, it can be a damper on my typing if it's happening."
"Using the L512 will immediately impress you with the clarity and brightness of the 15" wide screen. Not to be out done by the legendary ThinkPad keypad. The L512 posesses a sleek professional look with rock solid performance. I am an IT professional who has over 120 Dell's in my inventory. I tried the L512 a few months ago, and already have 10. Rest assured, there will be alot of used Dell's on the market soon. I give this laptop a solid 2 thumbs up!"
"I have the L512 with 4 gigs of ram. I am currently a student in college and this laptop easily keeps up for what i need it to do. I am constantly programming and having tons of windows open on the laptop and my external monitor. it has enough usb ports for my needs and never misses a beat. I love the keyboard and the track pad. the only thing that bothers me is lenovo's added software its ok. It doesnt get in the way or anything its just not stock but you cant really get that with any laptop. the battery seems to last forever its like a never ending pit"
Cons: Storage, Video card, Included Software, Software compatibility, Display performance
"This laptop has very poor video performance, if you are just doing word processing it will work very good for you, but for anything more look for another laptop. The L512 has veyr good battery run time, I get over 3 hrs between charges. My Gateway Core2Duo with the intel graphics runs programs better the this laptop is able to even with the i3 2.4 processor."
