"So far I really like Lenovo product. I have 3 Lenovo in my house today. I like Lenovo's overall design and style. I cannot really find anything like that in America made computer. Lenovo really put a nice touch on the style. I was originally thining of the U260 which is even more stylish and really little touch here and there that makes the overall experience very positive. However, because of the price I settle on the second choice U160. I currently own U160, S10 and a X60S."
"Background: I am an engineering graduate student.
I was using x61s which I am comparing U160 to.
pros: 1. I love the 4GB memory. 2. The covering looks cool 3. I love the Dolby audio system which is much better than the audio system of x61s 4. I love the Touchpad which I consider more convenient and more functional than the trackpoint. 5. I feel comfortable using the keyboard which looks stylish. 6. I like the wide screen. 7. The webcam works well. 8. the adapter is smaller than that of x61s. 9. I like the long-hour battery. 10. Basically, I think U160 meets most of my daily needs. U160 is good for traveling, too.
cons: 1. I was using X61s (the processor is 1.6GHz), so I don't satisfy the processor of U160 (1.33GHz). However, if you don't do complex programming, U160 should be fine. 2. It was hard to push the thin thing to show the media card slot. Besides, the thin thing was a bit dirty when I first saw it. 3. I touched the covering, then I saw some clear fingerprints. I was worrying about how to remove them... 4. U160 came with too much software which I didn't need, such as smile desktop and ooVoo. 5. the Touchpad was too sensitive. It took me a while to adjust to it. 6. I was trying to install Ubuntu, but I failed three times. 7. I was Skyping with my family using the microphone, but they couldn't hear me well."
"If you are watching youtube and some general browsing, this laptop is great.
However lot of heat is being generated, it gets hot very sooner. The mouse pad isnt great at all. The text size changes often when we deal with the mouse pad. This causes little frustration.
Video is great, Compatibility is great, Other design features are great. Very mobile, sleek and looks stunning.
Overall its okay, depends on how long and how often you use the laptop."
"Very impressed by the size, quality and the performance of the machine. Great resolution for a 11.6 inch screen and core i3 is plenty power.I also installed an Intel X-25M Solid State Drive and the laptop is screaming fast! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a full featured laptop but weighing just 3lbs."
"Great ultraportable notebook with all features and the HDMI is great. Be aware of screen resolution using HDMI, won't fill up a 1080p. This is my third Lenovo notebook. It is not the same as my X61 tablet but fits it design purpose well. One comment, the Lenovo utilities should never be trusted for backup. I dumped it all and did a clean install of Win7 and the drivers. Oh yes, be aware that the Linux kernel does not yet support the HM55 Intel mobile chipset - stuck with Win 7, the worst possible thing. My other Lenovo notebooks run Linux, period."
"I bought mine when it first came out, it has an i7 core. It works great and is very fast. It does get a little hot compared to other laptops. It is very light and is very easy to carry so now I don't have to break my back anymore. The keyboard is nice and well laid out. After using this I bought a U460 for my wife and she loves it."
