no frills work unit

Date:July 19, 2014
"My purchase focus was for a practical, cost effective workhorse - style and gaming capabilities not important to me.
Overall rating of 3 stars due to the unit configuration I wanted was not available from Lenovo website. I purchased the unit from a reseller specializing in upgrading new units and then selling to consumer. The upgrades included a second 4gb stick and replacing the 5400 rpm hard drive with a 7200 rpm. I would have awarded 4 stars had these specs been available from Lenovo.
A compromise with this unit was the numeric keypad for which I have no use. It is a tolerable annoyance to type with hands shifted to the left of unit center.
I use a desktop (Intel i7 processor) for intensive video/photo editing tasks. The AMD processor works well for my laptop needed tasks and helped meet my desired unit pricepoint.
Reliability is not rated as only time will tell. Past experience with Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad units for both employment and personal use has been positive."

Nate

This is a very good laptop.

Date:May 28, 2014
"This laptop is great. It is very fast and durable. It is made very well. Very strong. The screen is great. Battery life is good too. With all of the power savior settings turned off it will get around 4 hours. The keyboard fills great. The touch-pad is nice especially with the multi functions. Lenovo makes one very good computer. (Laptop) I would recommend this to any one. I upgraded it to an SSD and 8 GB of RAM and it is very fast. Great laptop."

Love my ThinkPad

Date:October 7, 2011
"I love my ThinkPad. It's very portable and the wireless keyboard and mouse that I purchased with my ThinkPad are very easy, lightweight and comfortable to use.
I use my ThinkPad for business purposes and it adds to my enjoyment of doing my job.
I've had ThinkPads in the past and stand by the brand's reliability.
I'd recommend Lenovo to everyone!!"

Not bad for the price

Date:October 4, 2011
Pros: Processor, Memory, Storage, value
Cons: Weight, Keyboard/peripherals, Build Quality, Display resolution, Display performance
"First, the good points... It's cheap enough to be a second laptop for a family of two and provides good processing power and spacious hard disk. The body is sturdy and the battery performs fine. It almost never crashed and seems to be pretty stable.
The drawbacks include inconvenient touch pad, heavy and bulky design and worst of all, the display screen. The screen is very pale and even at full brightness, will not provide a nice colorful picture, as if it's always on a power save mode or something. Another shortcoming is that the hard disk halts as soon as the machine senses the slightest movement (say, if you pick it up from the table and put it on your lap) and if you are in the middle of a movie or processing job, it takes up to several seconds to resume working.
It's good enough on a very BIG sale though... That's where I bought mine!
