Great NAS, at a great price

Date:July 18, 2014
"This is an excellent little NAS. It was plug and play simple to setup and install. It defaults to RAID-1, which is a good safe default. It has an easy to use interface and actually has a surprising number of features. It has good email notifications (and does not require setting up the mail config). It even notifies you via email when an update is ready. It supports setting up any number of copy jobs for backup. I am using this NAS with two 3 TB WD Red drives (for NAS storage). The performance is not amazing (I get about 25 MB/s on Gigabit Ethernet). I am using it for backing up another NAS and for archival purposes. I highly recommend this drive to any home or small business user. The price and feature set make this a great unit."

Great Product After the Learning Curve

Date:May 1, 2014
"When I first bought this product I was frustrated and all most returned it back to the local store that I bought it from. I said I would keep it one more day and then take it back. I kept playing with it and realized it not a storage device attached to a network and is a actual server. After that clicked its a awesome product. Using either FTP or the Copy Job to move files around on the NAS I have no speed issues. I have a 10/100Mbit gateway and I hit 7-9MB/s over WIFI going from NAS to laptop or vice versa. The built-in torrent is great. Overall I am very satisfied. The UI could be more user friendly but after you get pass the learning curve the device is solid."

Support is great now that it is Lenovo

Date:February 7, 2014
Pros: Security Features, Durability, Storage, rich feature set
Cons: might be difficult for a noob
"I bought mine when it was owned by iOmega. I liked the product features, stability, performance and such, until I moved to Windows 8. At that point, software support and compatibility was poor for Windows 8 until Lenovo purchased iOmega. Now that the product is Lenovo, I am very happy with what they have done and it seems that everything is in the good column for me now. I like that the Lenovo EMC Storage Manager software makes the device manageable again. I would recommend this product to others."

Works well for no-frills, no-rush backup

Date:January 27, 2014
Pros: Input/Output compatibility, Warranty, Included software, Durability, Build Quality, Storage, supports more drives than recommended
Cons: vista compatibility (in my setup)
"Purchased based on reviews on other sites, design, simplicity, and availability without drives. Wanted something that would automatically back up my stuff and would reside elsewhere from my PCs; it's currently on the floor in the front closet. Using a Seagate drive not on the "approved" list and no problems when I let the software reformat it. Web interface is simple but adequate, performance is fine for nighttime backups, and features are beyond what I would need. Durable construction and it looks great. A few settings could be more user-friendly so devote some time to setup; if you are very inexperienced with hardware, you might look elsewhere. Works great with Windows 7 and 8, trouble with Vista. It's cool, it's quiet, and it works. I'm happy."
