Customer Reviews for IdeaPad Y510p
Review 1 for IdeaPad Y510p
Owned Product:1-6 months
Operating System:Windows 8
Processor:Intel Core i7
Memory:4 GB or more
Excellent university laptop
Date: December 3, 2013
Pros: Battery, Processor, Memory, Video card, Storage, Display resolution
"Great balance of performance and portability.
Runs most games on very high settings. Great battery life (6-8 hours at 30-40% brightness with wifi on) as long as you have it set to use integrated graphics when not gaming. Matte display is very effective at blocking glare but is still sharp. Display can go VERY bright when needed. Lightweight enough to still be comfortable to carry around. SSD is a great addition.
Touchpad is good, much better if you disable some parts of the built-in Elan Smartpad software.
Excellent speakers for a laptop, great quality headphone jack.
Keyboard backlight is great for at night, the red tint makes it easier on the eyes than white. Shift keys are a bit smaller than normal, but you get used to it fairly quickly.
"I got the single gt750m with matte 1080p. It handles all current games well at full resolution. The red backlit keys look nice The wireless rarely have problems to connect, maybe because it only uses 2.4g band. Touchpad go wild sometime, move and click at random places...a very good laptop with a few hiccups"
"The Y510P offers good performance, and an excellent screen. Based on the pictures on the CANADIAN web site, it should come with an English keyboard, but instead it comes with an unusable bilingual keyboard with TWO backslash keys, one where the left shift should be, and the other where the enter should be. I understand that this keyboard should be an option, but you cannot get an English keyboard. It's a shame that they ruined a pretty good computer by not offering an English keyboard. The weight is reasonable, and it handles most games pretty well. The 1080P screen is very good and matte, which I much prefer."
